Welcome to Leilehua High School in beautiful central Oahu. Nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education and fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Leilehua is a school of about 1,840 students and about 140 faculty and 50 staff members sitting on 32 acres in the historic town of Wahiawa.. Approximately 25% of the student body are from military families stationed at Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Army Airfield, and the Naval Communication Station in Whitmore. Strong military and community partnerships strengthen the learning experiences for an ethnically and culturally diverse student population. Established in 1924, and relocated to its present location in 1949, Leilehua has a long, and interesting history.

HISTORY

red ohia1924 Schofield High and Grammar School was built on the site of King Kalakaua's hunting ground, where lehua trees flourished. The high school division was a branch of McKinley High School.

1926 Leilehua's first graduating class.

pineapple1928 Leilehua adopted its colors, green and gold - the green of the pineapple fields and the gold of its fruit, which abounded in the area.

1929 Leilehua's first newspaper, The Sentinel, rolled off the press.

mule1932 Leilehua adopted the MULE as its mascot, the symbol of the U. S. Army and the mascot of the United States Military Academy (USMA), located at West Point, New York.

1949 The Schofield and Leilehua High Schools were combined and built on its present 32 acre site.

OUR MISSION at Leilehua High School is to provide our students with quality educational services in a secure and nurturing environment. Fulfilling our mission will enable our students to be informed and responsible citizens, capable of participating successfully in a global society.

Visitor Pass
All visitors are to report directly to the office. Visitors with legitimate business are permitted to see students in the office or to see teachers in approved locations. Authorized visitors will be issued and must wear a visitor's badge.

Solicitation on Campus
Only school-sponsored money-raising activities that have been approved by the principal are permitted on campus. Surveys or questionnaires must also be approved by the principal.

Leilehua Complex is made up of the high school and 9 feeder schools. The feeder schools are Hale Kula Elementary, Helemano Elementary,Iliahi Elementary, Kaala Elementary, Solomon Elementary, Wheeler Elementary, Wahiawa Elementary, Wahiawa Middle School, and Wheeler Middle School. Wahiawa Community School for Adults is located on the Leilehua High School site. Wahiawa Community School's main office is located on our campus. Since its beginning in 1924, Leilehua has flourished and grown in size. Today, it is comprised of a diverse student population of approximately 1,800. Its programs, facilities, and staff provide the students with excellent opportunities for educational, social, and personal growth. In 1993, Leilehua was selected as a Nationally Recognized School of Excellence.

TRANSCRIPTS
Students currently enrolled at Leilehua need to see Mrs. Watanabe for assistance with college enrollment/applications and transcripts. Payment for transcripts need to be dropped off at the Registrar's Office.
